UNIVERSITY PARK, PA —
Frostburg State freshman Anna Routzahn (Frederick, Md./Frederick)
continued her outstanding collegiate debut season with an impressive performance at the Penn State University National Indoor Track and Field Meet this past weekend.
Routzahn posted a mark of 5-4.25 feet in the high jump to finish 15th in a field of 33. She defeated competitors from such Division I programs as Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Army, Temple and Tennessee.
"Anna was outstanding considering it was the biggest meet of her jumping career," Bobcat head coach Felix Moreno said. "This meet is always a tough one for any freshman, but she handled herself like a true champion."
Freshman Amanda Clayton (Frederick, Md./Linganore) finished 32nd in the 500-meter run (1:25.34), while sophomore Chelsea Lewis (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) placed 59th in the 60-meter dash (8.40 seconds).
In the 400-meter dash, junior Lynnea Finch (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) was 48th (1:03.59) and freshman Tiffany McPhatter (Lanham, Md./Central) was 56th (1:09.82).
On the men's side, senior Tyque McCarthy (Bowie, Md./Central) finished 45th in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash (7.28) and 73rd in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash (23.61).
Freshman Bryan Powers (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) was 77th in the 200-meter preliminaries (23.61) and 36th in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries (25.39).
The Bobcats return to action this Saturday when they will compete in the West Virginia University State Farm Games.
