WILMINGTON, Ohio —
Junior Curt Ruble (Mineral Wells, W.Va./Parkersburg South)
captured 15th place Friday afternoon at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational hosted by Wilmington College.
Ruble ran the 8,000-meter course in a personal best time of 26:13. Senior Andy Watson (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) also competed for the men, finishing in 132nd in 28:13.
“Curt ran an outstanding meet,” said head coach Randy Lowe. “He has been working hard over the past three seasons and is now beginning to see his persistence pay off.”
SUNY Geneseo won the men’s title with a 71 followed by North Central with 109. FSU only had two runners on the men’s side and was not eligible to place as a team.
The FSU women ran as a team and took 15th place. Sophomore Jennifer Patton (Barton, Md./Westmar) had the top individual place for the Bobcats finishing 91st in 24:40.
Junior Kara Wastler (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro (Hagerstown CC)) was second on the team and 94th overall with a time of 24:45.42.
Freshman Gwen Massey (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) was 110th (25:06), freshman Christina Aumand (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Huntingtown) was 168th (27:09) and junior Katie Lyell (Newark, Del./Newark) was 170th (27:11).
SUNY Geneseo captured the women’s title with 33 points followed by Washington with 66 points and DePauw with 99.
FSU returns to action on Saturday, october 7 at Dickinson College Long-Short Course Invitational.
