Second-Half Struggles Continue for Women's Basketball in Loss to North Carolina Wesleyan
ARLINGTON, VA —
Misty Carneal scored a game-high 28 points and added eight assists to lead North Carolina Wesleyan to a 69-54 victory over Frostburg State in the Marymount Tip-Off Classic Sunday morning at Verizon Sports Arena.
For the third straight game, the Bobcats battled to a narrow halftime deficit before coming up short in the second stanza.
Frostburg State (0-3) trailed by only one point, 28-27, at intermission, but shot just 8-of-27 (29.6 percent) from the floor en route to being outscored, 41-27, in the final 20 minutes of play.
Bobcat senior Donita Valentine (Laurel, Md./Meade) set career-highs with 13 points and 9 rebounds, while junior Holly Myers (York, Pa./West York) added 13 points and sank a game-high 3 three-pointers.
Demetria Hawkins scored 11 points and Sarah Jones added 10 points and 7 rebounds for North Carolina Wesleyan (1-2).
The Bobcats open their home slate on Tuesday when they host Mary Washington College at 7 p.m.
