Frostburg State University's Center Stage Live at the Loft Series will present singer-songwriter Mieka Pauley on Friday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Lane University Center Loft.
Billboard Magazine and the Boston Globe have compared Pauley recently to everything from "a young Sarah McLachlan" to "Aretha in the husky vocal turns." Her voice ranges from haunting, delicate beauty to an explosion of shattering, soaring soul. Her lyrics display uncompromising honesty and naked emotion, aimed straight for the heart. Her roots are the blues, classic soul, R & B, gospel and folk. The result is a sound that blends and transcends these genres into a unique and personal style.
Pauley is a favorite in Boston's clubs including the Kendall Café, the House of Blues, Club Passim and the Middle East, as well as New York's Bitter End, Living Room, Makor and CB's Gallery. She recently won BMI's Rock Boat Song Contest and a top three finish at the Telluride Troubadour Competition. In September, she was invited by the Boston Red Sox to sing the national anthem at Fenway Park.
This event, which is sponsored by Center Stage and the Office of Student and Community Involvement, is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Lane University Center Information Desk at 301-687-4411.
