Six Bobcats Named to National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad
FROSTBURG, MD —
The National Field Hockey Coasches Association has named six Frostburg State Field Hockey players to its Division III National Academic Squad.
Seniors Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ambler, Pa.) and Heather Kanowicz (Leonardtown/Leonardtown, Md.),juniors Ashley McKenney (Bohemia Manor/Chesepeake City, Md.) and Christine O'Neil (St. Mary's/Edgewater, Md.) and sophomores Kate Kelley (River Hill/Clarksville,Md.) and Becca Huber (Walkersville/Walkersville, Md.) were selected.
Faust, who set an FSU school record this season for most goals scored in a regular season (23), tallied 71 goals and 28 assists in her career while Kanowicz contributed eight goals and three assists during her career.
McKenney, who started in eight of 16 games, added an assist in 2002, while O'Neil had three defensive saves and started in nine games.
Kelley played eight games and added two defensive saves while Huber had one goal and one assist in her 12 games played.
Student athletes selected have been nominated by their coach and have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2002-03 academic year.
