FROSTBURG, MD —
Heavy snow has forced Frostburg State to postpone its first two softball doubleheaders of the year.
The Bobcats were to have opened the 2003 season Saturday, March 8 against Dickinson, but that doubleheader has been tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday, April 29 at 3:00 pm.
Frostburg State was then scheduled to host Mount Aloysius on Tuesday, March 11, but that doubleheader has been postponed as well. No make-up date has been set.
"The players and coaches alike are very disappointed about having our first two play dates postponed, considering all of the hard work we've put in since September," said Bobcat first-year head coach Chris Starke. "We've got two feet of snow on the field, so it remains to be seen when we'll be playing at home. Regardless, we've enjoyed a strong preseason, and we're looking forward to opening the year at the Ferrum Tournament in less than two weeks."
The Bobcats will now begin their season on Friday, March 14 against Randolph-Macon at 9:00 am before taking on Emory and Henry at 1:00 pm.
FSU then faces Ferrum on Saturday, March 15 at 9:00 am before beginning the championship round later in the day.
