STAUNTON, Va. -
Frostburg State outscored Mary Baldwin 28-0 in a sweep Monday afternoon at Squirrel Stadium.
FSU (23-15) scored nine runs on eight hits in the opener while limiting MBC (18-20) to just three hits. In game two, the visitors posted 19 runs on 20 hits while earning the win in five innings.
Seniors Bethany Seyler (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and Sarah Savoye (Davidsonville, Md./South River) and freshman Kaitlyn Wagner (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) powered the Bobcats in the game one victory. Seyler was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Savoye was 1-for-2 with three runs and Wagner had two hits and two RBIs.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the second and added three runs in the fifth to make it 4-0. Frostburg State put the game away by scoring one run in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Senior starter Jen Cook (Cresaptown, Md./Allegany) threw 7.0 innings allowing just three hits while fanning 13.
In game two, FSU raced out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and put seven more runs on the board in the second to take a 13-0 lead. The Bobcats extended their lead with one run in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Sophomore Meghan Dabkowski (Eastnorthport, N.Y./Commack) was 5-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs scored and two doubles. Wagner also had a fine outing, going 3-for-4 with five runs scored and two RBIs.
Seyler earned her first win as a Bobcat pitching 5.0 innings allowing just two hits while striking out two.
FSU returns to action tomorrow when it travels to Hood for a doubleheader at 3:00 pm.
