SOREA to Perform at FSU
Sound of Korea will perform at Frostburg State University on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. This free performance is sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council and FSU Department of Music Guest Artist Series in conjunction with World Artist Experiences and the Korean Embassy. SOREA has been chosen as an honorary ambassador to represent Korean Ministry for Health, Welfare, and Family Affairs for 2010-2011.

The name SOREA comes from "Sound of Korea" and "Symbol of Korea". SOREA plays modernized Korean traditional music and kicked off its debut by winning the gold award in the Creative Korean Traditional Music competition in 2005, followed by receiving the best new album award from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism secretary, 2006.

SOREA has gained interest from a lot of people as a modern Korean traditional music band possessing musical quality and public popularity by performing at the very first concert held at the Blue House since it became publicly open in 2008 and at other occasions as well. It also made its lead producer the winner of the Advanced Intellectual Person in Korea award. Its original composition "Beautiful Korea" was reckoned with its musical quality and was selected to be included in the music textbooks of junior high school.

Recently, SOREA's "Restart the Show" was selected as the title theme for the 13-episode documentary called "Kimchi Chronicles" by America's PBS TV. SOREA had a celebration concert for congratulating Kimoon Ban on his victory as UN Secretary General in 2006. It had a special invitation performance at the Mayor's Thames Festival in London, 2009, and a concert at Point Ephemere in Paris, 2010.

SOREA is evangelizing Korean traditional music and traditional culture to the world by diligently working as a representative of traditional Korean art. SOREA has been persistently presenting newly arranged traditional beats and melodies with the slogan of modernizing, globalizing and making Korean traditional art more publicly popular.
