Frostburg, Md —
Stuart Swink has been named head coach of the Frostburg State men's and women's tennis programs, Bobcat Athletic Director Ralph Brewer announced today.
Swink joins the FSU athletic staff from nearby Potomac State College, where he coached both the men's and women's teams since 2000.
He led the Catamount women to back-to-back Region XX titles and consecutive bids to the NJCAA National Tournament, while his men's team won the region crown and qualified for the national tournament in 2001.
Swink served as the Director of Tennis at the Rawlings Heights Racquet Club from 1985-1995 before moving to the high school ranks in 1997 as head women's coach at Keyser. In his only season, he led the Tornadoes to conference, regional and state team championships and was named PVC Coach of the Year.
He then became head coach of the Keyser boys team in 1999 and guided the squad to the conference team title as well as a regional doubles championship. He earned his second PVC Coach of the Year honor for his efforts.
"We are fortunate to have someone of Stuart Swink's ability and reputation take over our tennis teams," Bobcat Athletic Director Ralph Brewer said. "I have no doubt that he will build excellent programs here."
Swink is a member of the United States Tennis Association and United States Professional Tennis Registry.
