GROVE CITY, PA —
The Frostburg State swimming and diving teams turned in solid performances at the Sixth Annual James E. Longnecker Invitational this weekend at Grove City College.
The Bobcat men placed fifth out of nine teams with 359 points, while the FSU women finished seventh out of 10 squads with 260.50 points.
On the men's side, freshman Jay Ferrari (Columbia, Md./Riverhill) placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 53.35, while fellow rookie Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) was third in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.34.
Senior George O'Brien (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore), an All-American defensive lineman for the FSU football team, enjoyed a strong collegiate diving debut. He placed fifth in the 3-meter event with 139.70 points and was sixth in the 1-meter event with 143.00 points.
Freshman Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) led the Bobcat women, finishing fifth in the 200-yard IM in 2:22.06 and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.43.
Senior Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster) placed fourth in the 1-meter diving with 209.15 points and was also sixth in the 3-meter with 164.10 points.
The Bobcats will return to action on January 12 when they visit Gallaudet for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
