LA GRANGE, Ga. —
The Frostburg State men’s swimming team downed La Grange while the Bobcat women swept both La Grange and Agnes Scott Thursday afternoon.
The men’s team had its best output of the season with four first-place finishes. Freshman Pat Hutchinson (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) captured first in the 100 (1:13.92) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.66).
Senior Sean Leaman (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) took home a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:12.99) and freshman Josh Scurry (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) recorded first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.55).
Freshman Josh Barry (Sterling, Va./Parkview) captured a pair of runner-up finishes in both the 100 (1:23.14) and 200-yard breaststroke (3:06.93).
In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Kyle Meyer (Clifton, Va./Centreville) was second (1:09.67) and sophomore Allen Miller (Seabrook, Md./DuVal) was third (1:48.74).
In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Matt Nestor (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall) finished second (2:22.49) and Miller took home third (3:10.71).
On the women’s side, freshman Melinda Yost (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) was victorius in the 200-yard backstroke (2:40.31) and was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.02).
Two other Bobcat women recorded victories as well. Senior Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) caprured first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.07) and sophomore Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:55.30).
Sophomore Shannon Hurkett (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:27.04), classmate Amanda Delaney (Frostburg, Md./Beall) recorded a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:28.52) and freshman Michelle Nash (Columbia, Md./Hammond) was third in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.71) and 50-yard freestyle (29.47).
Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Hood.
