FROSTBURG, MD —
The Frostburg State women’s team fell to Grove City 121-85, while the men were outscored 115-84 Friday evening at Bobcat Natatorium.
The women’s team had a strong showing despite the loss. Sophomore Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) placed first in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:19.48 and classmate Shannon Hurkett (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) took first in the100-meter breaststroke (1:38.20).
Both the men’s and women’s 200-meter freestyle relay teams finished first with times of 1:48.83 and 2:09.67, respectively.
On the men’s side, senior Sean Leaman (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) came in first in the 800-meter freestyle (9:32.76) and in the 400-meter freestyle (4:41.26). Junior Kyle Myer (Clifton, Va./Centreville) took first in the 100-meter backstroke (1:26.26) and freshman Pat Hutchinson (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) was victorious in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of (1:18.65).
The teams return to action when they host December 2-3 for the Grove City Longnecker Invitational.
