— The Frostburg State men’s and women’s swimming teams lost to Savannah College of Art and Design Wednesday evening in a tri-meet with Warren Wilson. The men lost 113-71 while the women fell 114-74.
Junior Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) took home a pair of first place finishes for the Bobcats. He finished with a time of 22.43 in the 50-yard freestyle and 49.37 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Williams joined sophomore Kyle Meyer (Clifton, Va./Centreville), junior Brendon Craig (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) and sophomore Tom Sandor (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) to capture a second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay in 4:22.02.
In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Will Cross (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) finished in first place (3:02.40) while junior Calvin Kiple (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) finished in second (3:06.31).
Junior Sean Leaman (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) recorded second place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:53.67) and the 200-yard invidual medley (2:19.10).
Leaman and Cross would later record second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:22.02) with the help of freshman Nate Haugh (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and sophomore Matt Nestor (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall).
On the women’s side, freshman Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) finished in first place in the 500-yard (5:40.65) and 1000-yard freestyle (11:29.95).
In the 200-yard individual medley, junior Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) captured second with a time of 2:26.02. Senior Melody Hanna (Frostburg, Md./Beall) captured a second place finish for Frostburg State in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:31.27. Freshman Beth Pallotta (Columbia, Md./Archbishop Spalding) captured the final second place finish for the Bobcats with her time of 2:34.74 in the 200-yard backstroke.
In team action, FSU took home second place in the 400-yard medley relay. Hanna, freshman Julie Groetzinger (La Vale, Md./Bishop Walsh), junior Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County), and sophomore Megan Falls (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) combined to record a time of 4:44.36.
Hanna, Falls, Groetzinger and junior Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) recorded a second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:08.25).
FSU returns to action this evening when they travel to Randolph-Macon at 6:00 pm
