GROVE CITY, Pa. —
The Frostburg State swimming teams finished the opening day of the Grove City Invitational Thursday. The men captured sixth position while the women finished in 10th.
Senior Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) powered the Bobcat men with a seventh-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.92). In the 500-meter freestyle, senior Sean Leaman (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was 15th in 5:10.36.
The 400-yard relay team of Williams, Leaman, freshman Pat Hutchinson (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and Kevin Nolan recorded seventh place with a time of 3:57.73.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Hutchinson, senior Brendon Craig (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) and freshmen Josh Scurry (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) and Charlie Reimers were eighth in 1:41.86.
On the women’s side, senior Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) finished 16th in the 50-yard freestyle (26.82) and freshman Michelle Nash (Columbia, Md./Hammond) also finished 16th in the 200-yard IM (2:31.49).
The women’s 400-yard medley relay squad of Hamor, Nash, sophomore Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and freshman Kiara Yarberough (Baltimore, Md./Western) were seventh (4:34.34), while the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hamor, Dunnigan, Nash and freshman Kelly Wiley (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) were ninth (1:49.58.
Frostburg State returns to action this evening with the finals starting at 6:00 pm.
