— The Frostburg State women’s swimming team lost to Randolph-Macon Thursday evening, 141-107.
For the second straight meet, freshman Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) took home a pair of victories in the 500 (5:38.45) and 1000-yard freestyle (11:29.09). She also recorded a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:27.34.
Junior Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) captured a victory in the 100-yard freetsyle in 58.71. The 200-yard freetsyle relay team of Hamor, senior Melody Hanna (Frostburg, Md./Beall), sophomore Megan Falls (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and freshman Julie Groetzinger (La Vale, Md./Bishop Walsh) finished in first place with a 1:53.20.
Freshman Beth Pallotta (Columbia, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Groetzinger finished second and third in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:10.39 and 1:11.61 respectively. In the 200-yard butterfly, Dunnigan (2:27.34) and Hanna (2:30.01) also finished second and third. In the 500-yard freestyle, Falls and freshman Shannon Hurkett (Free Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) recorded a second and third finish in 5:58.46 and 6:18.15.
Junior Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) finished second in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.41) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.16).
Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it travels to Hood at 2:00 pm.
