GROVE CITY, Pa.
- The Frostburg State men’s and women’s swimming teams were defeated by Grove City, Friday evening.
For the women, the Wolverines defeated the Bobcats 71-44.
Junior Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had a solid meet, grabbing first place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:42.13), 500-yard freestyle (5:40.74), and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:58.79).
Freshman Shelly Tobin also competed on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, as well as finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 26.22 and third in the 100-yard freestyle (58.16).
Sophomore Thirza Roberto, placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.38), and sophomore Michelle Nash (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:41.64) while both competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Dunnigan and Tobin.
The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Megan Falls (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional), junior Kiara Yarberough (Baltimore, Md./Western), sophomore Malinda Yost (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) and freshman Sarah Sweet, captured third with a time of 2:24.39.
On the men’s side, the Wolverines downed FSU 63-45.
Freshman Scott Gantz had the only top three finish for the Bobcats, grabbing third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.40.
Frostburg State returns to action Friday, December 1 when they compete in the Longnecker Invitational at 5:00 pm.
