FROSTBURG, MD —
The teams of Team One and Lauder were the winners of the Second Annual Frostburg State University Football Golf Tournament held Friday at Maplehurst Country Club.
Greg Shockey, Vince Ignatius, Kurt Lear and Steve Liller of Team One captured the net division with a 53.
The FSU Education team of Gary Wakefield, Vaughn Snyder, Renny Azzi and Fred Sloan was second with a 56, while the FSU Foundation team of Jack Aylor, Chris Harmon, Noel Kunkle and Mark Katherman was third with a 56.
In the gross division, the Lauder team of Jim Lauder, Dan Duncan, Randy Morton and Steve Alkire won with a 60.
Bill Price, Gary Hanna, Dan Wilson and Gary Tummino were second with a 61, and Ralph Brewer, Jim Antonio, Roger Bruszewski and Tony Zaloga were third with a 61.
Closest to the pin winners were Tummino, Price, Mike Stevens and Lear.
"We had a great turnout with 68 golfers, and we really appreciate their support," said FSU head football coach Rubin Stevenson. "We also thank all of our hole sponsors and the staff at Maplehurst for making it a great event. This tournament continues to grow each year, and we’re looking forward to an even better turnout next year."
