“The Dying Gaul” 3rd Installment in FSU’s International Film Series
11/08/2006

Frostburg State University’s 2006-2007 International Film Series continues at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1, in the Lane University Center, Atkinson room 201 with “The Dying Gaul.” This film is free and open to the public.

"The Dying Gaul” is about a grief-stricken screenwriter, Robert, who unknowingly enters a three-way relationship with a woman and her film executive husband. Robert’s life changes when he is offered a million dollars for his latest and most personal work, “The Dying Gaul.” But there's a catch—the studio thinks the project will be much more commercially viable if Robert will only change the dead lover to a woman. Jeffrey, a smooth, ruthless and sexually greedy studio executive, makes the offer and seduces Robert with the intoxicating Hollywood cocktail of power, money and sex.

Jeffrey's wife, Elaine, brings the grieving Robert into the family fold, drawn by his talent and his pain. When Robert confides that he finds solace, both sexual and emotional, in the ghost-like world of chat rooms, the curious Elaine meets him there anonymously. As their online dialogue unfolds, she discovers that Robert and her husband are having an affair. The shock of that revelation and the unexpected way she responds set off a dangerous series of deceptions, confessions and betrayals.
