“The Good, the Bad, and the Pretty” Side of Math Discussed at FSU

The 37th Frostburg State University Mathematics Symposium will be held Friday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lane University Center. The symposium entitled “Teaching, Learning, Exploring” is in its 37th year at FSU and attracts over 100 mathematics educators from the tri-state area.

The featured speaker is Dr. Annalisa Crannell, a Professor of Mathematics at Franklin and Marshall College and winner of a 2007 MAA Distinguished Teaching Award. Her presentation is titled “Math and Art: The Good, the Bad, and the Pretty.” Fifteen other speakers will present talks on mathematics, mathematics teaching techniques and issues in mathematics education.

The Mathematics Symposium is co-sponsored by the FSU Mathematics Department and the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and is supported by grants from the Frostburg State University Office of the Provost, and the FSU Faculty Development Subcommittee.
