CENTERVILLE, MA —
Three Frostburg State football players were recently voted to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Southwest All-Star Football Team.
Junior offensive lineman Chris Golliday (Frostburg, Md./Allegany) and junior defensive lineman George O'Brien II (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) were both first-team selections, while senior running back/return specialist DeNelle Hale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) earned honorable mention honors.
Golliday, who missed most of his sophomore season with a back injury, took home first-team All-Atlantic Central Football Conference honors after anchoring an offensive line that helped the Bobcats average 30.9 points and 371.6 total yards per game.
FSU allowed a league-low nine sacks and topped the ACFC with 194.3 rushing yards per game.
O'Brien, who earlier this year earned Hewlett-Packard Division III All-America Third Team, Don Hansen Football Gazette All-South Region Third Team and ACFC Defensive Player of the Year honors, led the ACFC with 18 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks, and he finished second on the Bobcats with 84 tackles.
Hale returned from an injury-riddled junior season to lead the ACFC with 1,073 rushing yards, and he ranked second in both rushing touchdowns (13) and total touchdowns (15).
He also topped the ACFC in all-purpose yards (168.8 ypg) and set school and conference single-game records with five rushing touchdowns and 30 points in a 44-13 win over Apprentice. Eight of his 15 touchdowns on the season were 40 yards or longer.
Hale also earned first-team ACFC honors as a punt returner after leading the league with a 12.6-yard return average.
