"Three of Them," a student art exhibit, will be on display from Friday, Nov. 15 to Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery, located in the Fine Arts Building on the Frostburg State University campus. The exhibit features work by seniors Colin Avore, Elizabeth Moffit and Andi Simpson.
An opening reception will be held Nov. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gallery and is free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Sunday through Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Avore, from Westminster, Md., will present acrylic paintings from normal to large scale. An abstract expressionist, he seeks to evoke emotion in its true form. After graduation, he plans to continue painting and hopes to obtain an art related career. He also has a certificate in graphic design.
Moffit of Annapolis, Md., a graphic design student, will present photography. Using abstract texture and design form, she reflects bits of today's society in her photographs while incorporating aesthetics and composition gained from print and design. In her portraits, she hopes to catch people in their true state of being.
Originally from Glenville, Pa., Andi Simpson will display a series of paintings in oil and ink media. Andi's subjects show strong influences from her family and general surroundings and vary from plant studies to the human form. She uses organic sensibilities in line, color and brushstroke to create naturalistic and sensitive compositions.
