Track & Field Adds Host of Personal Records at Lynchburg College Classic

LYNCHBURG, VA – Frostburg State added a host of personal records Saturday at the Lynchburg College Classic in Lynchburg, Va.

On the men’s side, 10 PR’s were set in the 1500-meter competition. Junior Brian Bonn (Glen Burnie/Glen Burnie, Md.) set the highest PR with his time of 3:59.52. Following Bonn with their PR’s were freshman Josh Dawson (North East/Elkton, Md.) in 4:14.71, sophomore Sid Bittinger (Westmar/Midland, Md.) in 4:18.29, junior Kevin Ripple (Leonardtown/Mechanicsville, Md.) in 4:26.05, Andrew Parker (Springbrook/Silver Spring, Md.) in 4:28.92, senior Kevin Allgeier (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) in 4:33.70, junior Jonathan Masse (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) in 4:36.13, freshman Stephen Forsha (Magruder/Rockville, Md.) in 4:36.72, freshman Matt Litts (Broadneck/Arnold, Md.) in 4:38.87 and freshman Scott Yanus (Damascus/Gaithersburg, Md.) with a time of 4:24.43.

In the 5000-meter competition even more PR’s followed. Bittinger placed third and set a PR with a time of 16:15.80, Parker in 16:36.69, Dawson in 16:49.02, Forsha in 17:01.35, Litts in 4:38.87 and Masse with a time of 16:52.25.

In the 800-meter run, sophomore Calvin Kiple (Fallston/Forest Hill, Md.) set a PR with a time of 2:18.55.

In the shot-put, freshman Jimmy Haddix (Frederick/Frederick, Md.) tossed for a PR of 24’5-3/4”, while in the hammer throw, junior Terrell Hayes (Wheaton/Rockville, Md.) threw for a PR of 125’8-3/4”.

In the javelin, freshman Brandon Bowersox (Vernon Township/Baltimore, Md.) set a PR with a distance of just over 143’.

In women’s action, freshman Sheila Kurtz (Boonsboro/Thurmont, Md.) set a PR in the 800-meter competition with a time of 2:35.56.

While not a personal record, freshman Bonnie Axman (James Robinson/Burke, Va.) placed third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:52.53.

The Bobcats return to action April 17 when they travel to the Gettysburg, Pa. to compete in the Mason-Dixon Invitational.
