— The Frostburg State track & field team sent a handful of athletes to compete in the Adidas Raleigh Relays at NC State this past weekend. Over a hundred teams from across the country showed up to compete and sharpen their skills for the spring.
Sophomores Ron Lipscomb (Northern Garrett/Lonaconing, Md.) and John Densmore (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) highlighted competition for Frostburg State when both scored personal best times in the 1,500 Meter run. Lipscomb's time was 4:11.23, while Densmore ran a time of 4:16.58.
Also scoring a personal best was freshman Heather Lease (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) who ran the 100-meter dash in 13.63.
Representing FSU in the 4x200-meter relay was freshman Kevin Brown (Mergenthaler/Baltimore, Md.), junior Travon Morgan (Mergenthaler/Baltimore, Md.), senior Randy Belt (Patuxent/Upper Marlboro, Md.) and freshman Andrew Hackett (Mergenthaler/Baltimore, Md.). The team posted a time of 1:36.12.
Belt competed in the 400-meter hurdles and produced a time of 58.50 and ran a 17.03 in the 110-meter hurdles. Brown competed in the 100-meter dash and turned a time of 12.00.
"It was good for our team to experience competition among so many talented athletes," said head coach Felix Moreno. "Being around such motivated professional athletes and experiencing the commitment and drive that was present in North Carolina will certainly help motivate them and keep them interested in competing at that level."
The Bobcats return to action on April 12th when they travel to compete in the Lynchburg College Classic in Lynchburg, Va.
