WASHINGTON, Pa. —
The women’s track team placed fourth and the men placed fifth at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational Saturday afternoon at Cameron Stadium.
Freshman Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) led the women’s team with three first-place finishes, each qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship meet. Rohrs won the 100-meter dash (13.18), 100-meter hurdles (15.57) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.71).
Sophomore Jessica Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) took home second place honors in the 100-meter hurdles (15.84) and finished with an ECAC-qualifying 1:10.40 in the 400-meter hurdles. Senior Chelsea Lewis (Hagerstown, Md./Pike) added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.31.
The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Ashlee Resh (Sipesville, Pa./Somerset), Lewis, Clingan and Rohrs qualified for the ECAC meet with a time of 50.26.
On the men’s side, sophomore David Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.08, while freshman Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:00.35).
Sophomores Kevin White (Reisterstown, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) and Curt Ruble (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.17) and the 500-meter run (15:57.60), respectively.
The 4x400-meter relay of Leiter, and freshmen Steven Flanagan (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill), Nicholas Schiefelbein (Kensington, Md./Albert Einstein) and Tade Turton (Pittsville, Md./Riverside) finished fourth with a time of 3:35.53.
FSU will return to action on April 14 when the teams travel to the Bison Outdoor Classic on the campus of Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
