Track & Field Concludes Spring Break Trip at National Training Center

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Frostburg State men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded their Spring Break trip with training sessions at the National Training Center March 21-26.

Sophomore Adrienne Raiford (Capitol Heights, Md./Gwynn Park) and freshman Jess Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) each set personal records in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Raiford ran the 200 in 26.16 seconds and the 400 in 1:00.57. Clingan finished the 200 in 26.39 and the 400 in 1:00.37.

Freshman Bekah Rauch (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) turned in a time of 32.64 in the 200 as well as a height of 2.59 meters in the pole vault.

Junior Jenn Waskiewicz (Taneytown, Md./Union Bridge) excelled in three events. She had a toss of 27.13 meters in the discus, a mark of 33.88 meters in the hammer throw and a distance of 18.92 meters in the javelin.

Freshman Christine Woody (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) completed the 800-meter run in 2:48.78.ran the 1,500 in 5:38.82.

In the 800-meter run, junior Sarah Morton (Swanton, Md./Westmar) posted a time of 3:08.95, while junior Diane Baker (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished in 3:16.62.

Junior Chelsea Lewis (Hagerstown, Md./Pike) posted a time of 13.22 in the 100-meter dash, with sophomore Janine Luckett (Mitchellville, Md./Laurel) adding a finish of 15.15 and sophomore Sheila Kurtz (Thurmont, Md./Boonsboro) turning in a time of 1:08.81.

In the men’s 100-meter dash, freshman Arien Heggs (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) finished in 11.40, junior Teddy Levine (Miami, Fla./Fryeburg, Maine) had a time of 11.47, sophomore Dave Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) finished in 11.60 and junior Jonas Horst (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) posted a time of 12.04.

Cheeks finished the 200-meter dash in 23.51, with Levine next in 24.41.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Kevin White (Reisterstown, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) had a time of 51.47, while senior Travon Morgan (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) finished in 54.47.

Freshman Adam Jones (Homer City, Pa./United) enjoyed a strong day. He had distances of 40.00 meters in the discus, 44.6 meters in the javelin and 13.03 meters in the shot put.

Junior Michael Moxley (Snow Hill, Md./Linganore) added a mark of 35.28 meters in the javelin.

“Overall, it was a great 10 days with the team,” said Bobcat Head Coach Felix Moreno about the spring break trip. “In addition to having a lot of fun, we spent a great deal of time improving each athlete’s skills as well as doing academic work. The team had a good time.”
