HAGERSTOWN, Md. —
The Frostburg State track and field teams opened their seasons at a tri-meet at Hagerstown Community College with McDaniel, Friday evening.
Junior Jessica Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) led the way for the women by taking first place and setting the school record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 41.40. Clingan also catpured victory in the 55-meter hurdles (8.70).
Senior Anna Routzahn (Fairfax, Va./Frederick) qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship meet after recording first place in the high jump with a height of 1.58 meters.
Four freshman turned in solid performances in their first meet in a FSU uniform. Kayle Peters was victorious in the shot put (8.9) while Mellisa Ray (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) won the pole vault (2.44). Jennifer Greenhill (Ocean City, Md./Cargo) finished runner-up in the 300-meter dash (47.90) and Jessica Dabulskis captured second in the 55-meter hurdles (9.50).
Freshman Michael O’Brien (Baltimore, Md./Arundel) was the only FSU athlete from the men’s team in action and he won the high jump with a height of 5.10 meters.
Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow at the WVU Holiday Invitational in Morgantown, W.Va.
