SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Frostburg State women captured 14th and the men took home 43rd place at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship Meet Friday and Saturday on the campus of Springfield College.
Sophomore Jess Clingan (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) and freshman Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) had an outstanding meet for the Bobcats. Clingan was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.14), seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.92), 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.92) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (26.92).
Rohrs finished in third place in the 100-meter hurdles (14.79), eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.91) and 20th in the 200-meter dash (27.12).
Senior Chelsea Lewis (Hagerstown, Md./Pike) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 12.72 and 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.41.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Rohrs, Clingan, Lewis and freshman Ashlee Resh (Sipesville, Pa./Somerset) was fifth in 49.22.
On the men’s side, sophomore David Cheeks (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.05.
Junior Brian Leiter (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) recorded seventh in the 800-meter run (1:52.83) and sophomore Curt Ruble (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) was 10th in the 10,000-meter run (34.21.61).
Sophomore Kevin-Williams White (Reisterstown, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) was 15th in the 400-meter dash in 50.07.
FSU will return to action on May 24-26 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Benedictine University. Rohrs will compete in the 100-meter hurdles as well as the 4x100-meter relay with Clingan, Lewis and Resh.
