FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State has earned a berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship for the fourth time in the last five years and will face Rutgers-Newark in the first round Thursday at 4:30 pm at Juniata.
The Bobcats (30-3) were just one of seven teams to be selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not receive automatic qualification.
Overall, 48 teams are selected to the NCAA Division III Championship, including 36 schools from conference with automatic bids. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference will receive an automatic bid in 2004-05.
Frostburg State won its sixth AMCC title in the last seven years November 1 and will take a 13-match winning streak into Thursday's contest. The Bobcats have won 12 of those 13 matches by 3-0 scores.
Rutgers-Newark (24-8) defeated Richard Stockton 3-1 this past Saturday to win the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Scarlet Raiders will be making their first-ever NCAA appearance.
