Frostburg State finished the day by beating Chowan College 3-0 to earn a split Saturday in a tri-match at Randolph Macon College.
The Bobcats won fairly easily against Chowan, 30-19, 31-29 and 30-24, to improve their record to 6-3 on the season.
Sophomore Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.) led the way with 13 kills, while senior Stacy Bureau (Richard Montgomery/Rockville, Md.) and junior Kelli Bumgarner (Calvert/Chesapeake Beach, Md.) each added seven kills to pace the Bobcat attack.
In the opening match of the day against Randolph Macon, the Bobcats lost 3-1. FSU dropped the first two games, 29-31 and 27-30, before rebounding to take the third game 30-25. Randolph Macon sealed the match with a 30-25 victory in the fourth game to hand the Bobcats the loss. Petrick again led Frostburg State with 16 kills and added eight digs.
Sophomore Carrie Ness (Francis Scott Key/Taneytown, Md.) totaled 74 assists on the day for the Bobcats.
Frostburg State returns to action on Thursday when it opens up AMCC play at Penn State Altoona at 6:30 p.m.
