BUFFALO, N.Y. -
The Frostburg State volleyball team swept both Hilbert and Oberlin 3-0 Saturday afternoon to extend its winning streak to six matches.
The Bobcats (12-14, 4-1 AMCC) downed Hilbert (1-19, 0-5 AMCC) in the first match of the afternoon by the scores of 30-20, 30-9 and 30-16.
Senior Carly McDonald (Owings, Md./Northern) had a solid match with six kills, seven digs and four service aces. Freshman Jenny Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) also chipped in with seven assists and four service aces. Junior Amanda Frantz (Friendsville, Md./Northern Garrett (Garrett College)) led FSU with seven kills followed by classmate Lauren Weller (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) with five.
Junior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) posted 17 assists and senior Kristie Butt (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) had 11 digs.
In the second match of the afternoon, FSU downed Oberlin by the scores of 30-23, 30-13 and 30-18.
McDonald again had an outstanding match, smashing 12 kills with 10 digs and three service aces, while Frantz was equally impressive with 10 kills, 11 digs and three service aces. Butt and Wheaton each had three service aces while Butt added 10 digs.
Hernandez again led the squad with 30 assists.
The Bobcats begin a three-game home stand starting on Tuesday, October 18 when they host La Roche at 7:00 pm.
