- Frostburg State University volleyball defeated Rowan University 3-0 on friday night to improve its overall record to 5-2 on the young season. With a marginal lead throughout the first two games in which they won 30-23 and 30-26, the Bobcats cameback from down 9-3 early to eventually hold on and win the final game 30-26.
The Bobcats were again led by juniors Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.), Carrie Ness (Francis Scott Key/Taneytown, Md.) and Sam Seyfferth (Broadneck/Annapolis, Md. ). Petrick led the team in kills with 15, Ness recorded 35 assists and Seyfferth added 15 digs.
Defensivley the Bobcats dominted the net as they recorded 15 blocks led by junior Jodie Carpenter's (Linganore/Mt. Airy, Md.) five blocks, while Ness added four of her own.
The Bobcats return to action as they will host a Quad-match on Saturday as Rowan, Waynesburg, Carnegie Mellon and FSU will compete. Games begin with Rowan and Waynesburg at 9:00 am. The Bobcats will face Waynesburg at 11:00 am and Carnegie Mellon at 4:00 pm.
