Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match Against Penn St. Behrend and Grove City
- Frostburg State University volleyball extended its winning streak to an amazing 13 in a row with victories over both Penn State Behrend and Grove City on Saturday. The Bobcats (16-2, 3-0), also extend their 16-game winning streak in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
In the first match the Bobcats swept through Penn State Behrend in three games: 30-21, 30-28 and 30-24. Juniors Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.), who had nine kills, Sam Seyfferth (Broadneck/Annapolis, Md.), who added 15 digs and Carrie Ness (Francis Scott Key/Taneytown, Md.), who recorded 20 assists and seven digs, led FSU to the victory. Freshman Kelly May (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) added seven kills to help the Bobcats also extend their 25-game winning streak.
In the second match, the Bobcats finally dropped a game as they defeated Grove City 30-20, 30-24, 22-30 and 30-22. By losing the third game the Bobcats ended their 27-game winning streak, which spanned over the last 10 matches.
Petrick again led the Bobcats with 21 kills, Seyfferth added 29 digs and Ness contributed with 50 assists, 16 digs and four service aces. Also playing a big role were sophomore Carly McDonald (Northern/Owings, Md.) who had nine kills and 13 digs along with May, who had eight kills.
FSU will continue AMCC play this week as they play host to Pitt-Greensburg on September 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Bobcat Arena
