- The Frostburg State volleyball squad is the unanimous favorite to once again win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference according to a preseason vote by the league’s head coaches. The Bobcats look to claim their sixth conference title since the league's inception in 1997.
The Bobcats finished last season 25-10 and went undefeated (12-0) in AMCC play and earned a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in the last four years.
Penn State Behrend, last year's AMCC runner-up and the only other team to win the conference volleyball crown, was chosen to finish second ahead of Pitt-Bradford.
Junior Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.), the 2002 AMCC Co-Player of the Year, was the coaches’ pick for this year's Preseason Player of the Year. Last season, Petrick was ranked near the top of the AMCC in kills (421), hitting percentage (.284) and service aces (88).
Frostburg State will open its season on August 29th at the Moravian Tournament. The Bobcats will open defense of their AMCC title September 18th at Penn State Altoona.
