Witkowski Resigns As Men’s Soccer Assistant, Accepts Head Coaching Role At Mount Union
— Frostburg State men’s soccer assistant coach John Witkowski announced his resigntaion earlier this month to accept the position of head coach at Mt. Union College.
Witkowski’s first day at Mt. Union was Friday, January 19.
“I will miss coaching at Frostburg State and will especially miss the players,” said Witkowski. “I've called Frostburg home for almost six years; it is bitter sweet. I have great memories of the players and the people.”
“I want to thank Keith for giving me the opportunity to coach with him. I owe him and the players a lot because being with them made me a better coach and person.”
Witkowski, who joined FSU in 2002, leaves after a very successful tenure while with the Bobcats. He served as head coach for the junior varsity team from 2004-2006, while helping recruit and successully bringing in over nine All-State players to help maintain a strong men’s soccer program.
Witkowski completed his master’s degree in human performance while at Frostburg State, as well as obtaining numerous NSCAA National and Regional diplomas.
“Without Frostburg State there would be no Mount Union for me and I will never forget that. I'll always consider myself a part of the Frostburg State family.”
Mt. Union is located in Alliance, Ohio and boasts a 19-sport athletic department.
