12/11/2004

SCRANTON, PA — Senior Tracey Little (La Vale, Md./Allegany) scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Frostburg State women’s basketball team to an 81-62 win over Immaculata in the consolation game of the Scranton Diversified Invitational Saturday evening.

After ten lead changes and five ties in the first eleven minutes of the game, Frostburg State (5-3) would take the lead for good on a layup by Little to make it 25-23. Freshman Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) then hit a jumper followed by another Little layup to give the Bobcats a 29-23 lead.

Sophomore Krystin Hargrove (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) would then score six of her eleven first-half points in the next five minutes to give FSU a 41-34 lead at the break.

Immaculata (2-6) would cut the lead to four, 51-47, on back-to-back baskets by Meg Legere with just over 13 minutes left in the game.

The Bobcats then responded with a 16-3 run, ending with a jumper by junior Melanie Herget (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) to make it 67-50 and put the game out of reach.

Junior Kelly True (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Hargrove finished with 13 points for Frostburg State, which shot a season-high 50% (37-of-74) from the field.

Frostburg State returns to action Friday, January 7th when it hosts Lake Erie at 6:00 p.m.
