— Three Frostburg State women’s basketball players scored in double figures as it took a 70-64 win over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford Friday evening.
The Bobcats improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC, while the Panthers fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.
FSU took an early 14-3 lead seven minutes into play, off a layup from junior Krystin Hargrove (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook). The Bobcats would lead by as much as 16, 26-10, with 6:49 left to play in the first half.
Back-to-back shots by Megan Richards would put UPB within 32-25 at intermission.
In the second half, Pitt-Bradford used a 7-0 run to tie the game at 34 apiece with 17:10 left in regulation. The game tied three more times before Frostburg State would pull ahead to maintain the lead.
Hargrove paced the Bobcats with 18 points on 8-of-12 from the field. Junior Tracie George (Windber, Pa./Windber) and freshman Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Senior Stephanie Watts (Baltimore, Md./North County) added a team-high six rebounds and nine steals.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday as the host Penn State Behrend in another AMCC bout beginning at 4:00 pm.
