ROCHESTER, NY —
Junior Tracey Little (La Vale, Md./Allegany) scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots to lead Frostburg State to a 75-47 win over D'Youville in the Nazareth College Holiday Inn Airport Tournament.
The Bobcats won their third straight game to improve to 5-2, while the Lady Spartans fell to 0-7 on the season.
Frostburg State, which endured an 11-hour bus ride through heavy snow and arrived in Rochester shortly after 3 am, showed little signs of the long trip, jumping out to a 21-3 lead midway through the first half.
Little led the way by scoring 10 of her points in that stretch, while sophomore Melanie Herget (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) added five of her 12 points.
D'Youville closed to within 11, 26-15, with 6:02 left in the half, but the Bobcats used 7-0 run to end any thoughts of a comeback. FSU shot 15-of-29 (51.7 percent) in the opening half and held a 38-21 lead at the break.
The second half began just like the first, as the Bobcats scored early and often. Little and sophomore Kelly True (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) each poured in five points as FSU opened with a 10-0 run to build a commanding 48-21 advantage.
Little's final basket of the evening gave the Bobcats a 59-29 cushion with 10:11 remaining, and the lead ballooned to as many as 34 (68-34) at the 5:30 mark.
True finished with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while freshman Tracie George (Windber, Pa./Windber) added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Bobcats held a 51-35 rebounding advantage.
Frostburg State will take on Nazareth tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
