FROSTBURG, MD —
Junior Tracey Little (La Vale, Md./Allegany)
scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to lead Frostburg State to a 72-47 win over Lake Erie Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.
The Bobcats improved to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Storm fell to 1-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Little shot 6-of-8 from the floor in the opening half to help FSU build a 35-18 at the break. She scored seven straight points as the Bobcats raced out to a 17-2 advantage and never looked back.
The Bobcats, winners of three straight and seven of their last nine, took a 29-9 lead with 5:51 left in the first half thanks to back-to-back baskets by Little.
Little's final basket put FSU ahead 54-32 with 9:53 to play. Lake Erie never got closer than 16 in the second half.
Sophomore Kelly True (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds, narrowly missing her sixth double-double of the season.
Sophomore Ashley Mello (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) added a career-high 11 points as well as six rebounds.
Ten of the 12 Bobcats scored in the game.
Freshman Amanda Bray led Lake Erie with 12 points, while freshman Sarah Miller and sophomore Chenita Sumlin each scored 10.
Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday when it hosts defending AMCC champion Pitt-Greensburg at 6 pm.
