FROSTBURG, MD —
Senior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin)
scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and fellow senior Holly Myers (York, Pa./York)
added a game-high 15 points, seven steals and five assists to lead Frostburg State to a 75-38 win over Villa Julie Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena.
The Bobcats, who improved to 5-1 for the first time since 1996-97, fell behind 2-0 before outscoring the Mustangs (0-5) 19-3 over the next ten minutes to take control of the game.
FSU led by as many as 21, 36-15, on a Faust layup with 4:28 left in the first half and went into the break with a 36-19 advantage.
Frostburg State, who played without sophomore Tracey Little (LaVale, Md./Allegany) and freshman Ashley Mello (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) due to injuries, opened the second half with a 14-2 run to open a 50-21 lead with 14:11 remaining.
The Bobcats took their biggest lead of the night, 68-26, at the 8:20 mark and cruised to the win.
FSU freshman Kelly True (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double, while senior Christina Bleivik (Anchorage, Alaska/Bartlett (Pa.)) added nine points, five steals and three assists.
Freshman Kenya Broadnax (Elkridge, Md./Howard) posted eight points and nine rebounds.
Freshman Alicia Barnard led Villa Julie with a game-high 16 points, five rebounds and four steals, while junior Lorrie Budd added nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Bobcats, now 13-0 all-time against Villa Julie, return to action this weekend when they compete in the Bethany (W.Va.) Tournament. FSU will face Washington & Jefferson on Friday at 6:00 pm before taking on Bethany on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
