Women's Basketball to Host Hilbert in First Round of AMCC Tournament

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State women’s basketball team will host Hilbert in the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament on Tuesday, February 21. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The No. 3 Bobcats enter the tournament with a 17-8 overall record and a 13-6 league mark while the Hawks enter the game 6-18 overall and 5-13 in the AMCC.

In the two regular-season meetings, FSU swept Hilbert by a combined 54 points.

The Bobcats, who won the AMCC regular season and tournament championships last season, enter this year’s tournament having lost three out of their last four games. During that stretch, FSU lost to Mary Washigton, who is ranked No. 4 in the country, and Medaille and Pitt-Greensburg who finished one-two in the conference this season.

Hilbert sneaks into the AMCC Tournament having lost eight-straight games, with its last win coming against Lake Erie, 72-66, back on January 27.

This year the semifinals and finals will make their way through Buffalo, N.Y. as Medaille won the regular season and posted a 23-1 overall record and an 18-0 AMCC mark. Pitt-Greensburg earned the No. 2 seed with a 20-5 overall slate and a 16-2 league record. Both teams earned first round byes as Pitt-Greensburg awaits the winner of the FSU/HC matchup.

No. 4 seeded Penn State Behrend (16-9, 12-6) hosts No. 5 Pitt-Bradford (12-13, 10-8) and the winner will advance to face Medaille in the semfinals.

The AMCC championship match is scheduled for Saturday, February 25 at 3:00 pm. The AMCC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Semifinals (at Medaille) - Friday, Feb. 24
5:00 pm: Winner 4v5 vs. #1 Medaille 8:00 pm: Winner 3v6 vs. #2 Pitt-Greensburg

Championship (at Medaille) - Saturday, Feb. 25
3 pm: Semifinal Winners
