Women's Basketball to Host Mt. Aloysius Tuesday
12/08/2003

FROSTBURG, MD - The Frostburg State women's basketball team will look to return to its winning ways when it hosts Mount Aloysius Tuesday night.

The Bobcats, who had their three-game winning streak snapped Sunday, are seeking their first win against the Mounties in five tries.

TIPOFF: Tuesday, December 9 - 7:00 pm - Bobcat Arena

RECORDS: Frostburg State: 5-3; Mt. Aloysius: 0-6

SERIES: Mt. Aloysius leads 4-0

LAST YEAR: Mt. Aloysius, 64-60 (at Mt. Aloysius)

GAME NOTES: Frostburg State looks for its first win against Mt. Aloysius in five all-time meetings Tuesday night.

The Bobcats had their three-game winning streak snapped with an 80-68 loss to Nazareth Sunday, while the Mounties dropped a 73-68 decision to Waynesburg Saturday for their six straight loss.

Frostburg State is led by junior forward Tracey Little, who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In three games last week, Little averaged 23.4 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks as the Bobcats won two of three contests.

In her last game, Little scored a career-high 32 points to earn all-tournament honors at the Nazareth Holiday Inn Airport Tournament.

Freshman Tracie George has been outstanding since returning from an ankle injury. After missing four contests, George has averaged 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in her last three games.

Junior Jamie Cable and sophomore Kelly True have also been solid. Cable is averaging 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds, while True is adding 8.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per outing. True tied her career high of 13 rebounds against Nazareth.

Mt. Aloysius has struggled as it makes the transition from NAIA to NCAA III. The Mounties will become a provisional NCAA III member starting in 2004-05 and will also join the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference that same year.

Mt. Aloysius, with just five players on its roster, suffered three losses by large margins to start the season but has been much more competitive in each of its last three outings, falling to Penn State Altoona (60-51), Carlow (61-54) and Waynesburg (73-68).

Senior Allisa Buchanan leads the team with 13.0 points per game, while junior Missy Wertz is adding 11.5 ppg. Sophomore Abby Hall is averaging 7.0 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds, junior Michelle Sauserman is scoring 7.0 ppg and senior Lacy Baird is averaging 4.7 ppg.
