Women's Basketball Topples Pitt-Greensburg
01/14/2004

FROSTBURG, MD — Junior Tracey Little (La Vale, Md./Allegany) scored 32 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and sophomore Kelly True (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) posted 19 points and 15 rebounds to power Frostburg State to an 82-60 win over Pitt-Greensburg Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena.

Frostburg State (10-4, 2-0 AMCC), which won its fourth straight and its eighth in its last 10, snapped a seven-game losing streak to Pitt-Greensburg (10-3, 2-1), the defending conference champion.

Little's 32 points tied her career high, while her 18 rebounds was a personal best. She now has seven double-doubles on the year. True's totals were both career-bests and give her six double-doubles this season.

In a game featuring the top two scoring offenses in the AMCC, the teams battled through a tight first half en route to a 32-32 tie at the half.

There were eight ties and four lead changes in the opening 20 minutes.

FSU came out strong in the second half, opening with a 15-4 run over the first 4:34 to build a 47-36 advantage.

UPG countered with a 13-2 spurt over the next three minutes to forge yet another deadlock, but FSU again charged ahead.

True sank just her second three-pointer of the year and followed with a rebound and put-back to help FSU take a 58-51 lead with 9:19 left, but UPG countered with four straight points to close to within 58-55.

Little then then took over, scoring nine of her points to help FSU outscore UPG 24-5 over the final 8:33. UPG hit just one shot from the field, a three-pointer with 41 seconds left, in that final stretch.

Sophomore Melanie Herget (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) hit two three-pointers in the late surge.

Annie Sral led UPG with 11 points, while Tish Hines added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

FSU returns to action Saturday when it visits Penn State Behrend in another key AMCC contest at 2:00 pm.
