Senior Tracey Little (LaVale, Md./Allegany)
scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and redshirt-freshman Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel)
added 15 points off the bench as Frostburg State downed La Roche 75-49 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.
The Bobcats won their third straight and sixth in seven games to improve to 7-3 overall 4-0 in the AMCC. La Roche fell to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in the AMCC.
Little hit 7-of-12 shots from the floor and pulled down nine defensive rebounds in recording her seventh double double of the season. She added three assists, two blocks and a steal.
The Redhawks, with just six players, came out hot and opened a 15-4 lead at the 12:54 mark. However, the Bobcats stormed back with a 13-0 run over the next 4:26. Little sparked the rally with six points, three rebounds, a steal and an assist.
La Roche tied the game at 18 on a three-pointer by Truly Gaston before Frostburg State pulled away, outscoring the visitors 20-7 over the final 7:38 of the first half. The Bobcats held a 38-25 lead at the break.
Frostburg State stayed hot in the second half and used a 19-6 run over the first 10 minutes to open a 57-31 cushion. The Bobcat lead reached as many as 33, 67-34, on two free throws by junior Ashley Mello (Joppa, Md./Edgewood) with 7:11 to play.
FSU shot a season-high 53.8 percent (28-of-52) from the floor and drained a season-high 10-of-15 attempts from three-point range. The Bobcats also dominated the glass, holding a 48-25 advantage.
Jenna Bibey and Kari Whiteman led La Roche with 12 points each, while Gaston added 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Bobcats will host Bethany (W.Va.) Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
