Women's Lacrosse Defeated by No. 24 Colby
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -
Frostburg State dropped a 17-5 decision to 24th-ranked Colby Tuesday night.
Colby (3-0) scored twice in the first 1:38 to take the early lead before Frostburg State (4-3) got on the board with an unassisted goal by junior Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) at the 16:58 mark.
Colby took control of the game after that, scoring six straight times from the 15:30 to 6:13 to open an 8-1 cushion.
Freshman Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) scored off an assist from senior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) with 3:46 in the first half to make it an 8-2 contest at the break.
Colby continued to pull away in the second half, getting two goals in the first 4:06 of play to take a 10-2 advantage.
Duncan netted her second goal of the day at the 25:16 mark to bring to the Bobcats to within 10-3 before Colby tacked on three more goals to push its lead to 13-3.
The two teams then exchanged four goals, with junior Stephanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) finding the net with 14:21 remaining and Macey completing FSU’s scoring at the 6:31 mark.
Colby completed the win with tallies with 3:50 and 11 seconds left.
Duncan finished with two goals, while Macey had a goal and an assist.
Freshman Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Ritz led FSU with four ground balls, and Rihard added a team-high four draw controls.
Sophomore Rachael Lewis (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) made 16 stops in net for the Bobcats.
FSU returns to action March 29 when it visits Catholic at 4:00 pm.
