— Frostburg State dropped a 15-13 decision to Ohio Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in women’s lacrosse action at Bobcat Field. Junior Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright)
led the day with four goals.
The Bishops (8-3) took an early 3-1 lead eight minutes into the game. Freshman Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) scored a pair of goals at 14:21 and 11:49 to come within 5-4.
Senior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) found the net at 5:39 to make the score 8-5 in favor of OWU. With 14 seconds left in the first half, freshman Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) netted a goal and brought FSU within 9-6.
The Bobcats (7-9) opened the second half with a goal from freshman Maria Schrum (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) at 28:31. After Ohio Wesleyan scored a goal, FSU scored three consecutive goals with 19:42 left in regulation to tie the game at 10 apiece.
OWU responded with three goals to pull ahead. Three Bobcat goals tied the score at 13-13 with 7:47 left to play. The Bishops scored goals at 3:53 and 0:05 to end the game.
Rihard led the defense with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers. Sophomore goalie Rachael Lewis (Laurel, Md./Wilde Lake) recorded 14 saves in the loss.
Frostburg State returns to action Saturday as it travels to St. Mary’s (Md.) for the last regular-season game at 12:00 pm.
