scored three goals, including the game-winner in Frostburg State’s 10-9 victory over Ursinus in women’s lacrosse action Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead off two goals from freshman Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) and one goal apiece from Ritz and freshman Maria Schrum (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake).
Ursinus responded by scoring back-to-back goals to make the score 4-2. Junior Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) found the net at 1:08 to end the half with FSU on top 5-2.
The Bears opened the second half with two consecutive goals to come within 5-4. Duncan, Ritz and Schrum each scored a goal to maintain the lead. Three goals in three minutes tied the game at nine each.
With 45 seconds left in the game, Ritz netted an unassisted goal for the win.
Sophomore goalie Rachael Lewis (Laurel, Md./Wilde Lake) recorded 22 saves in the win.
Frostburg State returns to action Saturday as it hosts Ohio Wesleyan in the last home game of the season at 12:00 pm.
