— Junior Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright)
scored nine goals and 11 points in Frostburg State’s 18-9 win over Villa Julie in women’s lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats improve to 6-8 on the season, while the Mustangs fall to 1-11.
Villa Julie began the scoring just 50 seconds into the game. At 26:35, Duncan netted the first of her goals. Two minutes later, freshman Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century) scored. Senior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) increased the Bobcat lead by finding the net twice to make the score 4-1.
Duncan then netted four consecutive goals to make the score 8-4 with three minutes left in the first half. Junior Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and freshman Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) ended the half with one goal each to put FSU up 10-4 at the break.
Duncan opened the half with a goal at 28:58. Sixteen seconds later, freshman Maria Schrum (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) found the net to increase the lead to 12-4. Rihard and Ritz followed with goals at 24:35 and 22:59, respectively.
The Mustangs did not score in the second half until 16:40. Macey scored her third goal of the day at 16:14. Duncan cushioned the lead with three more goals to end the scoring for FSU.
Sophomore goalie Rachael Lewis (Laurel, Md./Wilde Lake) recorded 11 saves in the win.
Frostburg State returns to action Thursday as it travels to Ursinus at 4:30 pm.
