- Sophomore Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville)
had two goals and an assist and junior Jodie Gittleson (Rockville, MD./Wootton)
also found the net twice to lead Frostburg State to a 5-0 win over Penn State Altoona in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women's soccer action Tuesday evening.
The Bobcats improved to 8-2-2 overall and 5-1 in the AMCC, while the Lions fell to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Senior Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) added her 15th goal and 12 assist of the season. She now has a school-record 26 career assists, surpassing Erin Hawley's former mark of 25 from 1994 to 1997, and she increased her school-record totals for goals (77) and points (180).
Gittleson opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 12th minute before Kotofski converted a pass from Carter in the 27th minute to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
Carter then notched her 13th goal of the season in the 31st minute, and Gittleson added her seventh tally of the year in the 41st minute to push FSU's advantage to 4-0 at halftime.
Kotofski then fed Carter for the final goal in the 65th minute.
Senior Kelly Jones (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) and sophomore Meredith Remus (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) combined for FSU's sixth shutout of the year. Jones worked a scoreless first half in net to improve to 5-2-1 before giving way to Remus in the second stanza.
The Bobcats return to action this Saturday when they host long-time AMCC rival Penn State Behrend at 1:00 pm for Senior Day. The Lions downed Pitt-Bradford 10-0 Tuesday and currently sit atop the conference with a perfect 6-0 mark.
