Women's Soccer Defeats Hilbert 7-0

Buffalo, NY — Junior Erin Carraghan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and sophomore Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) each scored a pair of goals in Frostburg State’s 7-0 shutout over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference rival Hilbert College in women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Carter started off the scoring for FSU in the 20th minute with an assist from senior Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast). Five minutes later, Carter scored again unassisted.

Freshman Anita Wickerham (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) scored her first collegiate goal unassisted in the 35th minute to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.

Kotofski scored in 36th minute off a deflected pass from Carraghan.

Carraghan scored two consecutive goals. One came off an assist from junior Beth Hlebasko (New Market, Md./Linganore) and the second was from a 35-yard direct kick, which gave FSU a 6-0 lead at halftime.

The Bobcats’ final goal came from junior Shera Rowan (Frostburg, Md./Bishop Walsh) off an assist from Carraghan.

Junior goalie Meredith Remus (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air (WVU)) stopped six shots to record her first career shutout.

FSU improves to 7-2-2 overall and 4-1 in the AMCC, while Hilbert is 1-7-1 overall and 0-5 in the AMCC.

The Bobcats are back in action as they travel to Penn State Altoona Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 pm.
