UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH
- Frostburg State dropped a tough aggressive match to John Carroll University, 1-0, to end its five-game unbeaten streak and drop to 4-2-3 overall this season.
Both teams had very few opportunities to score as the Bobcats could not convert early in the first half when the Blue Steak’s goalkeeper took sophomore Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.) down in the box giving FSU a penalty kick. The kick was driven just a bit high and ended up flying over the net.
The game remained scoreless until Kim Felosky was able to drive a partially cleared ball from a corner kick back into the box. The ball was not hit firmly but floated float over the head of Bobcat junior Stephanie Zych (Guilderland/Slingerlands, N.Y.) to give John Carroll the 1-0 lead.
Both teams played aggressively throughout the remainder of the game, but neither had many scoring chances and shots on goal. FSU outshot John Carroll, 8-7.
Frostburg State will look to retutn to the win column as it visits Allegheny Sunday September 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. before coming home to face Villa Julie on Wednesday October 2, 2002 at 4:30 p.m.
